This Sunday is Luke's Baby Dedication at our church! We dedicated Wyatt when he was 4 months old and it was the perfect age! He smiled at everyone that day that saw him! I was hoping to do Luke's dedication at about the same age but our church doesn't do baby dedications during Advent so we had to either do it before or after. When the church had the Sunday before Thanksgiving (also the last Sunday before Advent) open, I had to take it! We have so very much to be thankful for! Celebrating Luke as another precious gift from God and publicly dedicating him to the Lord just days before Thanksgiving is perfect!
To get ready for Sunday, I began by trying on his little outfit on Wednesday...which just happened to be his 3 month birthday, too!
Goodness gracious, y'all...he is almost too big for it! I got a 6 months size when I was pregnant with him thinking it would be a little big if nothing else. He's a long one!
I also ordered this precious little bonnet for him with a baby blue cross embroidered on the top and back. He pretended to cough the entire time. He's so dramatic! (He gets that from his big Sissy!) So, I untied the ribbon and he still acted like he didn't like it. I don't know what to do!!! I wanted him to wear it so bad...as a little remembrance of Annabelle (since I already had her smocked white gown and beautiful handsmocked bonnet that a dear friend made for her all ready for her special dedication day. We didn't make it to that day with her, so I wanted Luke to have something similiar to honor her. I know what you're thinking with all his hair and all but a bow is totally out of the question! :)) Plus, the more that I look at the pictures of him without the bonnet the more I like him without it. His hair is just so him! Help me out on this one, friends! What do you think???
I think he looks a little Amish, too! He was bug-eyed the entire time I had it on him!
We are having a Dessert Drop-in Sunday afternoon at our home, too! So, I've been busy baking and getting everything ready! I am so excited to be able to use my mother's fine china! I hardly ever pull it out and she had so much of it that I am able to have service for 24 for Sunday!!! (The kids will have to eat off of some other little glass plates. We're expecting 24 adults exactly...good thing my mother went overboard!)
As I was trying to figure out what will go where on the dining room table, Wyatt was busy playing under it! I knew he had his race cars down there but I had no idea what he was doing until I squatted down to see. He had the table frame lined with his cars...and he thought it was the greatest thing! He preferred to play under the table later in the day until I heard the china rattling and I told him to load it all up!
Oh, it's so much fun getting ready! I'm off to make some of Red Velvet Cake Balls but don't tell Scott or there won't be any left for the party!!!

Your posts always make me smile. :) I love Luke with or without the bonnet. I think he should choose whether or not he likes it.
I love how creative kids are at Wyatt's age. Great pictures.
Amish...how funny!! I think he's adorable either way!
I hate that we're missing the fun. Have a very sweet weekend and know we're "with you in spirit!"
maybe Luke will wear it just for the dedication and then can show off that beautiful hair for his party. (Just no sampling the red velvet cake in that beautiful white outfit Luke!)
Oh, what a fun day planned for Sunday! I know that you must be excited. I vote for the bonnet- he looks so cute!

Oh what fun! He is such a precious little guy and I adore his outfit! I thought of you yesterday... Vance and I are in Austin, TX (where we used to live) for a football game and I made a trip to my favorite baby store. They had the cutest baby boy (and girl!) smocked clothing for Christmas! I wanted to buy Emily 2 dresses, but had to restrain because I have already bought her one smocked Christmas dress! Anyway, it made me think of you :)
I hear so much excitement in your "voice"! It sounds like you are going to have a very special day and have an opportunity to celebrate that special boy with lots of people (goodness gracious... your mother was prepared!).
I think Luke looks precious with or without the bonnet. But maybe you could get him to wear the bonnet for the ceremony... long enough to get a few pictures of him in it, and then let his pretty hair show! Either way... his very presence will honor Annabelle on that special day!
Love to you all...
Danielle

You are so blessed with an amazing family and I hope your celebration with family turned out wonderfully on Sunday! What a sweet angel Luke is! I have enjoyed seeing him in the nursery and he and Greyson have had some chats together it seems! :)
