My precious husband sent me away for a personal retreat last weekend and it was nothing short of glorious! I headed towards the coast and stayed on our favorite island...Seabrook. I opted for a cabin in the midst of nowhere and hardly saw 3 other human beings the entire time. I took book to read and school lessons to plan but ended up in awe of our Creator and hearing His voice telling me to just be. So, I walked for hours uninterrupted just talking to Him and spending even more time listening. My soul got a taste of what Eve may have enjoyed before the Fall...truly communing in the presence of the Almighty. I spent the evening watching the sunset as I ate my dinner and woke before dawn to catch the sunrise the next morning. I walked to the literal end of the island {thanks to an exceptionally low tide} and found the most beautiful shells unoccupied to bring home to my seashell adoring daughters. I shopped a roadside stand for local shrimp to bring home and walked in the door with still sandy feet and a full heart. What a treasure I was given in this time away with The Lord...
I had found the larger shell earlier in the morning and was saying "Now, how am I going to ever get the girls to share this gorgeous gift?" At that moment, the Lord nudged me to turn my head another direction and up on the beach sat it's matching little sister shell...also without a hermit crab {which was a miracle in and of itself}! I could hear Him whisper..."Everything you are enjoying I made...of course I can provide another shell for you!" I laughed audibly at His humor. He loves us so much and wants, desires, waits to be known by us! He delights in us and having the time to just hear that from Him was exactly what my soul needed.
The sunrise beginning as the tide was going out...
A sand dollar was stranded on the shore...
The sunset Friday evening was spectacular!!! The dolphins were playing and the fish jumping. I met/passed only two other people on my walk and we had the best conversation about God's glory on display.
My dinner with a view!
