Yesterday, Scott's Grandmama met Jesus. She lived 97 years and was truly the perfect culmination of a Southern Belle and a force to be reckoned with. I knew her as Frances since I was 10 as she was one of the first to welcome our family to Riverland Hills. She and my Daddy share a birthday and they hit it off instantly. She loved to tell him how to run the church and he'd just laugh. Her husband, Ike, and she quickly "adopted" our family and took us in as their own. We spent long winter weekends in their mountain home in Boone where I noticed family photos on the wall...and one specifically that had a houseful of girls and one good-looking son. Little did I know that years later I would be on a first date in TCBY and telling that good-looking young man that "I probably don't know your grandparents. It's a big church." Imagine my surprise when he said their names...the rest is truly history. God had been stirring in God's heart and he had just recently returned to church...joining his grandparents in the 4th pew from the front. He knew they'd be there every week. What a testament to a life well lives for Christ...setting a high standard with deep roots fully committed to loving and leading others to the Cross where her faith has now been made sight...
